BEM Systems Inc. (BEM) has completed a Software as a Service (SaaS) implementation of the BEM PAECETrak system for the Michigan DOT’s use on the New International Trade Crossing (NITC) Gordie Howe Bridge Project. This system will help MDOT and their property acquisition contractor Beam, Longest and Neff (B-L-N) streamline the property acquisition process and facilitate the tracking and reporting of the property acquisition process to the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority. PAECETrak will assist B-L-N and MDOT in clearing the Right-of-Way (ROW) for this important project while providing clear property status reporting to all involved parties. The system went live in June 2015, with the final modules being completed in December 2015.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is being delivered through a public-private partnership (P3). The bridge between Detroit and Windsor will provide a direct connection between I-75 in Michigan and Highway 401 in Canada, reducing the amount of truck traffic through residential communities. It is also a milestone in Michigan’s reinvention, as the project will create a demand for 10,000 related jobs. The bridge project traverses a mix of commercial, residential, and industrial properties. An estimated 600 parcels will be wholly or partially acquired in under24 months.
PAECETrak is supporting the entire MDOT RoW process, from appraisal, negotiation, acquisition, condemnation, and contract management, including full automatic status reporting and document generation. The system will help MDOT manage the overall process while recording all relevant property acquisition milestones and status changes. PAECETrak is currently deployed, supporting 14 client agencies across the US for RoW, Property Management, Encroachment and Advertising Permitting, and Environmental Management.
