Infrastructure
Transportation and state infrastructure projects are at the core of BEM’s business. Whether for highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, seaports, or rail systems, BEM supports our clients with a wide range of environmental consulting and Innovation, Technology & Solutions (ITS) , essential for meeting objectives and milestones throughout these often complex projects.
Over the past 20 years, BEM has served the transportation market on some of the largest capital infrastructure projects in the country, including the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System for New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ TRANSIT). This experience has taught us that there are four critical components, which have a significant impact on the schedule and budget of any public works project. These components must be addressed and managed effectively to help ensure a project’s success:
- Environmental planning, compliance, and permitting
- Right-of-way property acquisition and management
- Utility relocation and management
- Community Acceptance
Time and again, BEM has seen the scope and complexity of these components substantially impair the capital project to reach construction. Thus, to streamline project execution, we have integrated environmental consulting and information management services into a “hybrid” organization, which understands the project objectives, schedule, and budget requirements of public agencies. Combining our core environmental services with custom applications to track information for environmental, right-of-way, and utilities from the early planning stages through construction allows for one-time data entry of important milestones, activities, and costs in real time; improving communication between the various stakeholders and minimizing errors.
