UTrak™

Utility Relocation Management Solution

UTrak™ is a Utility Tracking Management System designed to streamline the management of the relocation or modification of utilities within a Right-of-Way. UTrak™ manages the process of identifying utility owners within project boundaries, performing utility investigations, identifying conflicts, developing site plans, and creating agreements with utility companies or local municipalities.

The system can be used to track utilities (constructed, adjusted or relocated) within project limits, including private, public or cooperatively owned electric, communications, cable television, lighting, gas, oil, crude products, water, steam, waste, and stormwater. UTrak™ manages utility activities and agreements between transportation agencies and their consultants, engineers, contractors, and utility owners.  It facilitates close coordination between ROW and utility activities to ensure early identification of special conditions, required utility easements, disturbances or conflicts, and the potential impact on the overall project schedule. UTrak™ also manages permitting through tracking of information needed for utility installation permits and then generates the permit documents. UTrak™ is designed in conformance with the general guidelines of Title 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 645, Subparts A and B.

UTrak™ has been proven to be of significant value in facilitating internal and external communications between the ROW Agency, municipalities, and utilities as projects are planned, designed, and constructed.  UTrak™ gives agencies the right tools for utility coordination early in the project development process, leading to streamlined utility relocation, expedited project delivery, reduced construction schedules, and minimized contractor overruns related to utilities.

Whether a utility company is seeking to install or relocate their facilities within DOT ROW or DOT needs to obtain ROW in an area with existing utilities, UTrak™ manages the entire process and keeps relevant information at your fingertips both during the work and after it is completed for ease of reference later.

GIS Mapping
The following screenshot demonstrates the use of ESRI’s ArcGIS technology to provide GIS mapping capabilities allowing parcel attributes and as-built drawings to be displayed as a layer in GIS with the ability to search data through GIS. Using the GIS functionality, users can identify relevant utilities for a project and evaluate the status of work being performed.
