STOICS

STOICS^® (Storage Tank Operation and Inventory Compliance System) is a GIS enabled application originally developed for Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.  STOICS was created in response to the client’s request for a tank management plan.  The application consists of  a relational database that would provide centralized access to tank related data, automatically track the environmental compliance of each tank, and provide tickler notifications of important events such as tank inspections.

Overview

BEM Systems, Inc. (BEM) has developed STOICS^®, a powerful web-based and user-friendly software package designed specifically to improve and simplify the management and maintenance of facility storage tanks, either at a single multi-tank operation or at multiple facilities. Based on BEM’s years of experience assisting organizations to meet and reduce their compliance burden (in industries ranging from manufacturing, petrochemical, and transportation to the U.S. military), we have developed an innovative tool making it easy for the user to:

STOICS includes integrated U.S. state and federal regulations, so you can always know if your tanks or other related tank equipment need work to meet current regulations.  A GIS/mapping component allows data to be displayed in an intuitive, fully integrated visual format, and our built-in compliance/maintenance scheduler allows you to track regulatory and maintenance history, automatically receive alerts, and schedule upcoming events.  These and many other features make STOICS a unique facility management tool.

Although STOICS is a powerful database, it’s easy to use!  With just a click, you can follow STOICS’ clear directions and easy-to-read screens.  You are also assisted by numerous user-friendly features, such as:

• Pull-down menus
• Database-driven “pick” lists
• Color coding
• User-specific “pop-up” window, alerting you to pending and overdue action items
• Integrated GIS mapping and reporting that requires no knowledge of GIS
• Push-button reporting

STOICS® was recently upgraded to be a web-based system and has AFNIC application acreditdation by the United States Air Force Air Mobility Command (AMC).

STOICS provides security at both the application and database levels, as well as audit trails.  These safety features protect your data investment and allow you to recover accidental changes.

STOICS has helped a major U.S. Air Force base pass an audit by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and has been selected over its competition for use by a major defense agency.  STOICS’ users include the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the U.S. Army National Guard, and the U.S. Postal Service.
