Razom for Ukraine
The world continues to humble us as we watch the tragedy in Ukraine unfold.
During these unimaginable times, it is not the powerful and influential who are most impacted, but instead those who are most vulnerable. There are millions of innocent people in need, and we want to help make a difference.
BEM Systems has made a contribution to the New York-based nonprofit organization, Razom for Ukraine. Their mission is to support the people of Ukraine in their pursuit of a free and democratic society. Their current emergency response is focused on purchasing medical supplies for critical situations like blood loss and other tactical medicine items. We want to thank Wiss & Company, LLP, our accounting business partner, for permitting us to borrow liberally from their own announcement. They captured our company’s sentiments so perfectly we felt no need to change it. They also introduced us to Razom for Ukraine and their due diligence allowed us to quickly determine that Razom would be the best venue for our corporate contribution to quickly make a difference where it is most needed. Of course, there are many other effective NGOs helping the people of Ukraine and whichever one you choose makes a real difference.
BEM is proud to expand our Gratitude Initiative by partnering with the World Central Kitchen (WCK) and The Farmlink Project to address the economic and humanitarian realities currently occurring across the U.S. Each of these organizations has a mission to reach the most vulnerable communities during their time of need.
World Central Kitchen (WCK)
WCK has developed a solution to simultaneously provide fresh meals to those in immediate need and keep small businesses open amid the current health and economic crisis. WCK first launched in Newark, NJ, in late March and, since then, has distributed over 1.43 million meals across seven cities, including Elizabeth, Newark, Paterson, and Trenton. WCK provides meals to communities in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including kids and their families, the elderly, people experiencing homelessness, and newly unemployed people and struggling to put food on the table. BEM has donated $15,000 to help with this ongoing project.
The Farmlink Project
Farmlink, a non-profit started by college students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, fights food insecurity by repurposing surplus produce. The Farmlink Project connects farms with a surplus of fresh, nutritious produce to communities in need. In addition to ongoing COVID-19 support, Farmlink is currently responding to Texas’s crisis where they have secured almost 340,000 pounds of produce and water for various hunger-relief agencies around Texas. BEM has donated $10,000 to help Farmlink continue this work.
