With traditional environmental markets in infrastructure, air quality, remediation, water, and wastewater, as well as energy transition and climate resilience, it is understandable that companies report growing demand for environmental technology and services,” said Grant Ferrier, editor of Environmental Business Journal and chair of the EBJ Business Achievement Award selection committee. “Pivoting with political change and overcoming the multiple challenges of inflation, supply chains, wage increases, labor shortages, and changing markets has almost become routine for the resilient leaders in the environmental industry.”
BEM was recognized for their recently completed Phase I PFAS Remedial Investigation (RI) at Buckley Space Force Base (SFB) in Colorado. This project at Buckley SFB was the first PFAS RI to be completed nationwide by the U.S. Air Force. These assessments effectively set procedural and technical precedents industry-wide and are critical to the Government’s mission to protect human health and the environment from PFAS. The approach was executed using a Triad-like adaptive workflow strategy, whereas the site-specific and base-wide Conceptual Site Models were refined throughout the RI, and interim scoping decisions were made collaboratively with regulatory and Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders in an accelerated fashion, facilitated by an innovative online Project Management Dashboard (PMDBTM) developed by BEM.
The 2024 EBJ awards will be presented live and in-person at the EBJ Business Achievement Awards banquet at Environmental Industry Summit XXIII on April 02-04, 2025, in San Diego, along with CCBJ Business Achievement, Lifetime Achievement, and 50-Year Company anniversary awards.
