Revolutionizing eCommerce for Businesses and the Public
Today, the New Jersey Department of Transportation announced the release of a new Customer Web site that will make it dramatically easier for businesses and the public to conduct electronic commerce with the department in all aspects of Outdoor Advertising.
This new system is the first customer-facing electronic commerce solution offered to the businesses and residents of New Jersey by a state agency in New Jersey. It enables customers to submit applications, communicate with the DOT, make payments, receive approval for sign permits, and process renewals electronically. Thousands of permits are processed by the NJDOT each year often taking months to complete. The new AdTrak system is expected to greatly shorten the time to complete the permitting process both for new applicants and those companies renewing their permits.
“The Department of Transportation’s new AdTrak online permitting system will bring outdoor advertising into the digital era,” Governor Murphy said. “Businesses throughout the State of New Jersey will benefit from increased and easier access to outdoor advertising, continuing our administration’s commitment to modernize state government”.
Transportation Commissioner Diane Guttierrez-Scaccetti added, “One of my priorities as Commissioner has been to make the permitting process more efficient and transparent. This is the first step in doing that throughout the Department.”
BEM will now expand upon the AdTrak platform to develop a comprehensive e-permitting system to manage all 53 of the Department’s permits that businesses and residents use, including major highway access permits. BEM anticipates the first major group of permits to be processed online by the end of 2021. Over the past twenty years BEM has delivered several enterprise solutions for the NJDOT starting with an electronic ROW management, called PAECETrak, that is now deployed with many state DOTs across the United States.
